CRAZY MOUNTAINS PUBLIC ACCESS MAPS

The following maps are of the Crazy Mountains through various stages.
  • The Crazy Mountain Forest Reserve was established in Montana by the U.S. Forest Service on August 10, 1906. It became a National Forest on March 4, 1907.
  • January 29, 1903 the Crazy Mountains were combined with part of Yellowstone Forest Reserve.
  • July 1, 1908 the Absaroka was re-instated as the Absaroka National Forest.
  • 1945, the Forest Service reorganized with the Absaroka National Forest consolidated with the Gallatin National Forest.
  • The Forest Service consolidated forests across Montana, with the Custer and Gallatin National Forests combined in 2014 to become the Custer Gallatin National Forest.
  • Currently the Crazy Mountains are on the Gallatin National Forest maps (North) 2012 publication.
